WhatsApp allows you to hide the chat as an improvement in privacy

A new WhatsApp security feature allows you to hide the most private chats using a keyword or emoji to block them

WhatsApp users now have a new feature in the application that allows them to hide or block the most private chats using a password or an emoji.

According to the morocotacoin platform, “this function of blocking and hiding chats with a secret code on WhatsApp complements the biometric unlocking for messages that you do not want others to access.”

The user does not need to delete the messages. It only requires placing a “blocking code on those conversations that you would prefer to keep secret.” The procedure is simple: you just have to open WhatsApp, click on the conversation you want to keep private. The three-dot menu will appear above; then open the menu and select the “Block chat” option using an emoji or a keyword.

This WhatsApp update allows you to send these conversations to the “Blocked Chats” folder, to now keep them completely secret. But this folder cannot remain empty, so at least one conversation must exist in it.

Until now, it is known that to access blocked chats, it is necessary to enter a secret code in the search bar.

The update with the new feature is available for iOS and Android, and is expected to progressively be available to all users, according to the platform.
