YouTube studies to delete all kids videos
The company is considering a big change in its policies in order to guarantee the safety of children and combat pedophilia
YouTube has been in the middle of the controversy due to several content scandals on its platform, which include homophobia and the recommendation of videos of children exposed to pedophile users.
As contemplated in some media, the executives of the tool are evaluating the possibility of transferring all the content referring to children towards a separate product. This will open the possibility for YouTube Kids to become the main reference for users under 13 years.
Taking into account the great popularity of children’s content on YouTube represents which is a source of important revenue for the company, the change may become a risk for the platform’s business model.
However, the advantage for the firm after the modification is that children will be isolated allowing to increase their abilities to control harmful videos and preventing children from being exposed to potential predators.
The questions about the measures YouTube will take to combat malicious users are not clear yet. In fact, in the past YouTube Kids presented inappropriate videos, which motivated the brand to implement a greater effort with its human content reviewers.
