Venezuela retakes oil exports to the United States

The South American country resumed exports of crude oil to the United States after three weeks without making any shipments due to a temporary stop of Petróleos de Venezuela due to lack of electricity and the sanctions imposed by Trump

According to data provided by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA) 139,000 barrels of crude were exported daily in the week ended April 5. The last shipment was made the week that ended on March 8, when the first blackout of the many that still suffers the country occurred.

It is worth emphasizing that Venezuelan sales to the United States began to decrease considerably after January 28 when the US government prohibited trade with Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa).

After the sanctions, Nicolás Maduro said that all sales of crude oil to the United States should be canceled in Venezuela before embarking.

Maduro’s decision is due to the fact that everything that enters Pdvsa accounts is controlled by interim president Juan Guaidó.

For its part, the state oil company has not detailed whether these exports reported by the EIA are part of this type of transaction or  come out from other transactions.
