USA ratifies trade agreement with Mexico and Canada

The US president confirmed this week the document signed last year, during the G20 summit held in Argentina

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, ratified on Wednesday the trade agreement with Mexico and Canada (Usmca), more than a year after the three countries signed it within the framework of the G20 summit.

Although the trade agreement had been signed by the three countries for months, the United States had not yet ratified it, so it was not part of the legal system of the North American country.

Washington estimates that the new Usmca, which will replace the old North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta), will create 600,000 jobs in the United States and increase economic activity by $ 235 billion.

“We have finally ended the Nafta nightmare and ratifying the new agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada,” said the US president.

“This is a colossal victory for our farmers, ranchers, energy workers, manufacturing workers and for workers in general in the 50 states of the United States”, Trump added.

Likewise, the US Executive forecasts that exports of agricultural products will increase by 2,200 million dollars, while sales of dairy products abroad will increase by 315 million dollars.

“We are very grateful to the close association and collaboration with Prime Minister Trudeau and the incredible friendship and relationship we have developed with López Obrador”, said the president.
