University of Italy will certify titles through the ethereum network
The house of studies of Cagliari will use the blockchain of the cryptocurrency since it is one of the most modern that currently exist
The University of Cagliari, located in Italy, announced that from the court that will be released on July 20, university degrees will be registered and verified through the blockchain ethereum network.
This is done, according to the director of the campus María del Zompo, in order to guarantee the validity and integrity, as well as to avoid falsification of physical and digital certificates.
“We have decided to guarantee the authenticity of the European certificates of our graduates with this technology, because we intend to equip them with a modern, simple and immediate tool that can be used anywhere in the world. A certificate of degree, both on paper and in digital format, it is easily falsifiable or modifiable,“ explained the rector.
This solution is possible thanks to the help of FlossLab Ltd, a company created from the educational institution. The decision to use the ethereum network was taken in view that it is one of the most modern and with the necessary characteristics for that purpose.
This type of initiatives has precedents in different universities worldwide. The most widespread is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, which began working on a project to register certificates of their graduates in the chain of bitcoin blocks in 2015.
