UK court orders btc exchange seized

A total of 295 bitcoins, which were recovered after a money laundering investigation, were exchanged for pounds sterling

On Friday, a court in the United Kingdom ordered a total of 295 bitcoins to be exchanged into pounds sterling, which were seized after a case of money laundering and drug cultivation.

This was stated by the official portal of the Surrey Police, the county of England where this case originated. This is the first time that the United Kingdom follows the processes of the law to deal with a case related to cryptoactives.

These bitcoins, according to the authorities, were the result of illegal activities carried out by citizen Seregjs Teresko, who is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence.

It is noted that during the investigations of the case were discovered, at the home of this individual in April 2017, a cannabis factory with 220 thousand 575 pounds sterling, 30 thousand 75 euros and 14 thousand 40 baht Thai, all in cash, plus of gold ingots and jewelry.

To be able to make the transfer to a portfolio controlled by the Surrey Police, the authorities had to consign a legal permit. The approximate amount of the transaction was one million 246 thousand 279 pounds.
