Twitter started testing US e-commerce module

Twitter began testing its shopping module with some North American companies, marking an important step towards e-commerce. With this function, companies will be able to sell their products, from their profile pages on the instant messaging platform.

The companies participating in the pilot program will have a space at the top of their Twitter profiles where they can show the products available to buy without leaving the application.

The social network, which is based in San Francisco, explained that all people in the United States who have the application in the English version of Twitter and are adapted to Apple mobile devices will be able to view the Shop Module.

Bruce Falck, Goldbird Product Leader, said: “We are excited about the potential of shopping on Twitter and eager to learn more on the go.” The purpose of the store module is to offer social network users a way to “Tweet about products to buy them.

According to what Falck expressed, with this new experience they will continue to learn about people’s buying preferences on Twitter. “We are starting with a handful of brands in the United States.”

Studies carried out by the eMarketer company indicate that the social network Facebook leads the market for “social commerce”, which has been growing rapidly and it is estimated that by the end of the year, in the United States, it will have a value of about $ 36 billion.
