TikTok reinforces its legal team

The emerging social network appointed a new counselor to meet requirements on intellectual property

TikTok improved its legal team for the enforcement and protection of intellectual property with the appointment of Erich Andersen as the new Global General Counsel.

The entertainment application allows users to share their creations in short-lived mobile video format. As Andersen pointed out, TikTok “became one of the most dynamic Internet platforms in the world, inspiring creativity and providing fun to millions of users around the world.”

The announcement of the Global General Counsel is “the last movement” of TikTok to develop the global experience “in key areas such as compliance and intellectual property protection,” TikTok president Alex Zhu said in a statement.

Andersen joins the company after his time at Microsoft, where he spent more than 20 years in various positions, and where he recently served as Corporate Vice President and Director of IP Advisory. In his new position, he will report directly to the president of TikTok.

The new Global General Counsel said he is “delighted” to join TikTok “at this exciting time of the company’s trip”, and has assured that he will work to “place the company at the forefront of global efforts to promote and balance the user and community security, along with creative expression”.
