The Pentagon will invest $ 2 billion in AI

The US agency seeks to develop automate technology with greater intellectual and reasoning capacities to work in the security sector

The Pentagon announced this Friday that it will invest at least two billion dollars in the development of artificial intelligence capable of communicating with humans.

Those responsible for working on this project will be the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), who will use these funds in 20 projects that will improve the machine learning sector, according to director Steven Walker.

“We are developing multiple research projects aimed at transforming computers, from specialized tools to partners in solving problems,” explained Walker.

On the other hand, he indicated that the Pentagon plans to explore the skills that machines can have in the area of communications, similar to what human beings do today, as well as the capacity for rationing.

The plan of this technology is to be able to accelerate the security approval control as well as the accelerated accreditation for the software systems, according to the agency.

Most of DARPA’s research, which is 100% funded by the Pentagon, focuses on combat technologies, such as increasingly autonomous drones.
