The euro recovered on a day marked by Trump’s illness

The common currency was trading at $ 1.1788 at 15:00 GMT compared to $ 1.1714 at the same time on Friday

The euro recovered this Monday, September 5, and showed an upward trend in a day still marked by the coronavirus disease of the president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump.

The common currency was trading at $ 1.1788 at 15:00 GMT versus $ 1.1714 at the same time on Friday. The European Central Bank (ECB), for its part, set the euro’s reference exchange rate at $ 1.1768.

The dominant issue in the currency market remained Trump’s illness. For other major currencies, the ECB set the benchmark exchange rates at £ 0.9081, Japanese yen 124.25 and Swiss francs 1.071.

Commerzbank currency expert Ulrich Leuchtmann believes that investors do not know how to assess the repercussions for the market, regarding the evolution of Trump’s disease.

“I think we have to accept that there is no consensus among currency traders about how they should interpret the recent news,” Leuchtmann said.
