Russia and Venezuela signed new trade agreements

A total of 16 bilateral agreements in the commercial area were signed by both nations within the framework of the XVII Russia-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission

Venezuela and Russia signed 16 new bilateral agreements in the commercial sector, after several days of work within the framework of the XVII Russia-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Alexander Novak, noted that “trade between both nations increased 70 % in the first seven months of 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year,” thanks to the increase in interest from export companies from the two countries. , which allowed it to reach 94 million dollars.

According to the Russian official, the physical volume of bilateral trade multiplied by 2.5. This represents a “gradual growth of trade between Russia and Venezuela.”

Pedro Tellechea, Minister of Petroleum and president of Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), participated in this round of negotiations. He stressed that both nations remain united today and always.

The meetings of the subcommittees of Energy, Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Information, Communication and Digital Development, Finance, Culture and Sports; Education, Science, Technology and Health, among others, were held until October 12. Later, on Friday the 13th, it was the turn of the subcommittees of the Customs Cooperation, Industry, Commerce and Mining, Labor, Geology and Subsoil Uses, and Technical-Military sectors.

The preamble to these negotiations was the participation of Vice President Delcy Rodríguez in the Energy Week in Russia, where she took the opportunity to meet with Novak and organize the next visit of President Nicolás Maduro to Russia, in addition to strengthening oil cooperation between both countries.
