Reddit will restore payments with cryptocurrencies

The platform CTO, Chris Slowe, explained that users will be able to pay the premium membership again with BTC

During an interview, Reddit’s CTO, Chris Slowe, explained that the company will once again add cryptocurrency payments to its platform.

In this way, users can pay premium membership again with BTC. Previously it had been eliminated because there was a change in “Coinbase” and only Paypal was accepted.

Slowe said that one of the reasons why they eliminated BTC was because the transaction fees of the network “were too big”. In addition, he highlighted that Coinbase was the main payment processing platform for Reddit, and the company recently revitalized its user interface and API.

These statements confirm that Reddit is looking to integrate more crypto currencies after a few weeks of pause. The CTO explained that the website is considering the cryptocurrency offered by the Coinbase service, which are Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin and Ethereum.
