Paraguay raises electricity rates for mining

The National Electricity Administration announced the increase in costs for cryptocurrency mining

The National Electricity Administration (ANDE) of Paraguay announced an increase in the rates of the “special intensive consumption group”, where cryptocurrency mining stands out.

Decree 7,824, with resolution 46,984, establishes that miners must pay rates between 6 % and 58 % higher than those established, which depend solely on voltage levels and consumption during peak load hours.

In relation to the voltage levels, an increase in the electricity rate of 26 % is established for the supply in the 220 KW line, 36 % in the 66 KW line, 41 % – 58 % in the 23 KW line.

In addition, if they work 24 hours a day, without reducing their demand during peak consumption hours, the increase in rates that miners will register will be 26 % to 58 % higher than that of regular users. On the other hand, if the equipment is disconnected during peak charging hours, the rate will be a little lower than that quoted, but between 6 % and 32 % higher than that of the rest of the users.
