Unilever, the giant of cosmetics and hygiene products sector with more than 400 brands in the world, is already on the list of companies that incorporates Artificial Intelligence when hiring personnel, through a system designed to analyze the color of skin, facial expressions and language of the candidates while they hold the interview.

The algorithm has been developed by the American software company HireVue and has a gigantic data platform with linguistic and facial information collected from past interviews and based on this, select the most valid candidate according to your criteria.

Future employees are evaluated by the system through a web interview, which consists of an interaction with the camera and the interviewee and thus take note of how they perform through their body language, intonation or vocabulary.

The software knows if a candidate uses passive phrases instead of active phrases, if he makes long or short sentences, if he chooses the right words and even if a candidate feels committed to the company and says “We” instead of “I” and if Speak faster or slower. The system also analyzes facial expressions, which, while important at the time of an interview, are not decisive in determining whether a person is good or bad.

Loren Larsen, the chief technology officer of HireVue, said: “We get about 25,000 information points in a 15-minute interview.” Candidates are ranked after an evaluation at a scale of 1 to 100, as well as previous interviews listed in the database. of company data, a process that can take “weeks or months,” as indicated by the company.
