Mercado Libre expands its cryptocurrency services to Chile

The e-commerce platform now allows you to buy, sell and store cryptocurrencies on its Mercado Pago platform

Users of the online payment platform in Chile can now buy, sell and store Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) through the Mercado Pago app, according to Osvaldo Giménez, president of Mercado Libre’s Fintech sector, who announced the news on LinkedIn.

Brazil and Mexico were the first countries to integrate this commercial function with cryptocurrency operations, and now the company is expanding to Chile, becoming the third country in the region to have access to the service through the Mercado Pago application.

Chileans can make their exchanges of Chilean pesos to Bitcoin or Ether with very low minimum amounts to operate, starting from a minimum amount of 60 cents on the dollar, directly from the Mercado Pago application.

This is intended to allow even those with little knowledge or experience in the field to enter this ecosystem and have access to these digital assets.

“We continue to open the doors to the crypto world for millions of users in the region: first Brazil and Mexico, and now also users in Chile”, said Giménez.
