E3 2023 was officially canceled

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference that was scheduled to be held between June 13 and 16 will not take place due to the "necessary interest" not being obtained

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference of this year 2023, which was planned to be held from June 13 to 16, was canceled after learning that some of the most relevant companies in the video game sector, such as Microsoft, Nintendo and Ubisoft, would not participate. in the event and, therefore, failing to arouse the “necessary interest”.

E3, one of the most recognized video game sector events in the industry, was scheduled to be held again in person in Los Angeles (United States) for the first time since 2019, since it was also canceled in the year 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and in 2022 to “deliver a revitalized experience” at the next E3.

Now, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced that E3 2023 is officially cancelled, as communicated through a Twitter post.

It is also corroborated by IGN, who had access to the email sent to its team members communicating its cancellation. In said email, the organization expressed that the reasons for its cancellation are due in part to the fact that E3 has not managed to “garner the sustained interest necessary” to show “the size, strength and impact” of the video game industry.

Despite this, the ESA emphasizes that E3 “remains a much-loved event and brand, although it does not provide further details on whether this exhibition will be organized again in the coming years.
