Google will manufacture its Pixel smartphones in India from 2024

In an announcement by the technology company Google this Thursday, it was revealed that starting in 2024 it will manufacture its Pixel smartphones from its facilities in India

In order to strengthen its presence in the international market, Google announced that in 2024 it will begin manufacturing its Pixel smartphones from its facilities in India. Google’s subsidiary in the Asian country confirmed the initiative this Thursday.

Senior Vice President of Devices and Services Rick Osterloh said on the Google India website: “We are very excited to announce our plan to manufacture Pixel smartphones in India. “We intend to start with the Pixel 8 and will partner with domestic and international manufacturers to produce Pixel smartphones locally.”

The company hopes that its Pixel phones will hit the market in 2024 as part of the government program called “Make in India”, which aims to “increase local manufacturing and boost investment in the Asian country, and which has led the Indian Government to close large contracts, mainly in defense and technology, in recent years.”

Osterloh has highlighted the benefits of India as a global manufacturing hub, describing it as a prosperous setting for business flourishing.

On October 4, Google completed the global launch of the new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones, “which incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) functions and are sold in India for 76,000 rupees (about $920) and 107,000 rupees (almost 1,300 dollars) per unit.”

Now, with the announcement of the manufacturing of its equipment in India, Google will join Apple, which did the same in 2017, with its iPhone devices.
