The announcement was made by the president of the technology company, Tim Cook, through a video at the headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Cook highlighted that with this new product they are moving towards Apple Intelligence and emphasized that they are currently playing a lot with their iPhone 16 “and hope to seduce their customers with models equipped with AI.”

“Apple Intelligence is a new type of computing functions for all the company’s devices, announced in June together with a partnership with OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT,” they have indicated.

These capabilities are geared towards “AI image editing, translation, creative functions for messaging, in line with similar proposals from OpenAI or Google.”

Apple has emphasized that its AI will even be able to propose responses to emails. “Users will be able to ask more complicated questions to Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, for example to find a photo in their albums using a simple verbal description.”

This launch will also serve to better position Apple in the market, considering sales levels for the last quarter of 39 billion dollars, where the iPhone represents 60 % of revenue “and remains the gateway to the firm’s services, such as the App Store or Apple TV, which are growing in importance.”

According to Emarketer analyst Gadjo Savilla, Apple’s new iPhones are very important. “It is Apple’s most profitable product category and an essential part of its expanding universe of services and subscriptions, its second most profitable activity.”

Since then, no new ones have been presented. versions of said model.

Now, according to statements from sources close to the company, to which Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman has had access, Apple plans to announce a new version of the 24-inch iMac at the end of October, with a new processor.

As developed in its latest ‘Power On’ newsletter, after the launch of the iMac with a 24-inch M1 processor, the company had planned to launch a new device based on an M2 chip, in addition to an updated version of the 24-inch iMac. inches. However, development of a new iMac Pro was postponed “due to cost concerns.”

On the other hand, as was known in March of this year, the company began working on the development of a new 24-inch iMac model. At that time, the analyst detailed that the new model would implement an M3 platform, that is, a chip manufactured with a 3 nanometer (nm) process, which would arrive at the end of this year.

In this framework, according to these people close to the company, Apple will take advantage of the presentation of a new product focused on Mac to announce the new iMac model, without specifying for the moment the platform with which it will work, in an event that will take place at the end of this month.

Following this line, the analyst has also pointed out that Apple stores have a shortage of iMac devices, as well as 13-inch MacBook Pro and high-end MacBook Pro computers. This may indicate that the company is waiting to announce the new iMac, as well as new MacBook models, since the company’s websites indicate that new stock will not arrive until mid-November, as Gurman has been able to verify.

In addition, another piece of information that signals the proximity of a company announcement, according to the analyst, is that Apple has moved the company’s financial results call to November, instead of presenting earnings in October, as is usually the case.

This was reflected in the data collected by the independent study carried out by Analysis Group entitled “The continued growth and resilience of the Apple App Store ecosystem”, which analyzes the results related to the Apple application store and shows how The “strong and resilient” track record of developer growth in the App Store has been solidified.

In this framework, Apple stressed that its application store continues to be a space of “incredible opportunities” for developers around the world, since during 2022 they managed to raise 1,100 million dollars in terms of billing and sales of their applications.

Specifically, according to the study, it indicates that last year developers generated a total of 910,000 million dollars in relation to billing and sales from the marketing of goods and services. Likewise, 109,000 million dollars were collected by way of advertising within the applications and, finally, 104,000 million dollars were generated by way of digital goods and services.

Likewise, according to the company led by Tim Cook, among all the invoices, 90 % of the profits have corresponded exclusively to developers and companies of all sizes.

Among other advantages, microLED screens use components at least a hundred times smaller than those used in products that use LED technology and are manufactured directly on wafers, allowing thinner screens to be created. They also have lower power consumption and offer higher brightness performance outdoors.

To carry out this production, Nikkei Asia has announced that Apple has partnered with suppliers such as Osram for microLED components, LG Display for substrates and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. for wafers.

In addition to all this, Apple has also designed some of the production equipment to better control the mass transfer process. That is, the process of moving tens of thousands of microLED chips onto substrates. “This shows how determined Apple is to allocate resources to have more control over next-generation display technologies,” according to one of the sources.

Following this line, the mass transfer process will be carried out in an R&D facility that Apple has in the city of Taoyuan (Taiwan), where it is estimated that it has a team of more than a thousand people.

This microLED display technology is still in a testing phase. However, Apple plans to introduce it to its iPhones, as “it’s their key revenue stream and has much higher volume.” With this, it intends to “justify the investments over the years”, according to the sources, who claim to have seen a sample of the microLED screen.

The CEO of the technology company, Tim Cook, said in a meeting with workers and engineers in Germany that, in addition to focusing on the production of chips in his country of origin, he also hopes to expand his supply from plants located in Europe.

One of them would be located precisely in Germany, whose government would already be in talks with the company’s main supplier, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), to set up a component factory, as Bloomberg learned.

“We will source from Europe as these plans become more evident”, said the manager, also revealing that he has made the decision to purchase these components from a factory located in Arizona, scheduled to open in 2024.

From Bloomberg, they announced that this factory would be the one currently run by TSMC and that operates in the city of Phoenix. In addition, this manufacturer is also studying the possibility of building a second production center in the United States.

This news media also recalls that the US government launched a subsidy program, which is part of the law known as the Chips and Science Act, with which it hopes to encourage companies that manufacture these chips to expand in the country.

Currently, TSMC manufactures a large part of its products in plants located in Taiwan, which has a high production share (around 60% of the world supply of processors, according to Cook).

Cook again appealed to the defense of privacy. A concept he refers to as a “fundamental human right” in a letter to Congress.

Apple’s CEO believes Americans are “closer than ever” to “meaningful” privacy protection. A milestone that he defends as possible thanks to the parallel work of Congress and the country’s president, Joe Biden.

Given this context, the CEO of the technology urges “strongly” to promote privacy legislation “as soon as possible”. In addition, he offers the support of Apple throughout the process.

The intervention of Congress is necessary for Cook, since for him only this body can guarantee the necessary protection measures to cover “all Americans” with a legal umbrella.

Apple’s CEO laments that the “continued absence” of this legislation “will perpetuate a fragmented approach” to the right to privacy. In turn, this leaves many people without the protection provided by the standards that the imposition of a regulation would entail.

The letter comes shortly after a bill called the “American Data Privacy Protection Act” was announced. This suggestion, prepared by Democrats and Republicans, proposes to limit the types of personal data that companies can collect and what use they can make of it.

The company’s shares increased by more than 2.5 % after the opening of Wall Street, while income increased 11 % to reach a record figure of 123,940 million dollars, exceeding the projections of analysts, who forecast a 118.5 billion dollars in sales.

While the operating profit has risen to 23 %, which represents some 41,488 million dollars, and the gross margin stood at 43.8 %, above the anticipated 41.7 %.

According to statements offered by Apple CFO, Luca Maestri, “the strong customer response to our recent launch of new products and services drove double-digit growth in revenue and earnings, and helped set an all-time record in our installed base of active devices.”

Records in Apple products

Innovation and new products have generated a significant increase in sales of Apple products. All but the iPad have posted new revenue records, as have the company’s business units. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, “this quarter’s record results were made possible by our most innovative lineup of products and services.”

Sales by product category report the following figures: 71,628 million dollars were obtained from the sale of iPhones, reflecting a 9 % growth; Mac computers registered 10,852 million dollars, which represents a 25 % growth.

For its part, the Accessories division generated 14,700 million dollars, a growth equivalent to 13 % and the Services division reached 19,500 million dollars, which means a growth of 25 %. However, iPads only brought in about $ 7.248 million in revenue, which is a 14 % decrease.

Impact of inflation

Apple’s CFO made reference to the impact that inflation is having, especially on the company’s logistics costs. However, he estimates that the situation is temporary. “Everyone is seeing inflationary pressure” and this price increase impacts the company’s margins “these increases are being taken into account in its gross margin. Some expenses such as logistics have a very high cost”. I emphasize Master.

Since the pandemic began in 2019, the company has been cautious when giving details about its forecasts for the coming months, due to the high uncertainty experienced by Covid-19, but even so, it continues to grow quarterly, making it a the most valuable company on the stock market.

Apple announced a carbon removal initiative, called “Restore Fund”, through which it will invest in forestry projects to remove carbon from the atmosphere together with Conservation International and Goldman Sachs, for 200 million dollars.

“Nature provides some of the best tools to remove carbon from the atmosphere. Forests or wetlands extract carbon from the atmosphere and store it permanently in their soils, roots and branches”, says Lisa Jackson, Vice President of Environment, Policy and Apple Social Initiatives.

This effort is part of the company’s broader goal of being carbon neutral throughout its value chain by 2030. While the company intends to directly eliminate 75 % of emissions from its supply chain and products by this date , the Fund will help offset the remaining 25 % of the Cupertino company’s emissions.

To ensure that carbon stored in forests is accurately quantified and permanently locked out of the atmosphere, the Restoration Fund will use robust international standards developed by recognized organizations such as Verra, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and the United Nations Convention on Climate Change. the weather. Likewise, investments in exploited forests that improve biodiversity through the creation of buffer zones and nature reserves will be prioritized.

“Investing in nature can remove carbon much more effectively, and much earlier, than any other technology today. As the world grapples with the global threat posed by climate change, we need new innovative approaches that can dramatically reduce emissions “, defends Dr. M. Sanjayan, CEO of Conservation International.

These efforts are in addition to other announcements by the US company, which a few weeks ago announced that more than a hundred suppliers around the world will switch to using renewable energy as part of the commitment made in 2020 to be carbon neutral by 2030.
