In order to stay in the competition of the technological market, Apple launched its first iPhone equipped with generative AI on Monday, September 9.
The announcement was made by the president of the technology company, Tim Cook, through a video at the headquarters in Cupertino, California.
Cook highlighted that with this new product they are moving towards Apple Intelligence and emphasized that they are currently playing a lot with their iPhone 16 “and hope to seduce their customers with models equipped with AI.”
“Apple Intelligence is a new type of computing functions for all the company’s devices, announced in June together with a partnership with OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT,” they have indicated.
These capabilities are geared towards “AI image editing, translation, creative functions for messaging, in line with similar proposals from OpenAI or Google.”
Apple has emphasized that its AI will even be able to propose responses to emails. “Users will be able to ask more complicated questions to Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, for example to find a photo in their albums using a simple verbal description.”
This launch will also serve to better position Apple in the market, considering sales levels for the last quarter of 39 billion dollars, where the iPhone represents 60 % of revenue “and remains the gateway to the firm’s services, such as the App Store or Apple TV, which are growing in importance.”
According to Emarketer analyst Gadjo Savilla, Apple’s new iPhones are very important. “It is Apple’s most profitable product category and an essential part of its expanding universe of services and subscriptions, its second most profitable activity.”
