Currently, the platform has a feature called Marquee, which allows authors, musicians and composers to target listeners based on their listening history. More specifically, it is a full-screen sponsored recommendation for potential listeners of the free version of Spotify and Spotify Premium.

Spotify seeks to expand the options for creators now with Showcase, which is presented as a sponsored recommendation as a banner in the main interface of the mobile application, that is, “the most visited place” of this service, according to what it said in a release.

The company commented that with Showcase a user is 6 times more likely to play that content and that it gives creators the opportunity to “develop their audience in new and meaningful ways.”

In this way, with Showcase you can highlight music to attract listeners for an upcoming release, a tour or the anniversary of the publication of an album or song, among other cases.

Ads generated with this tool last for 14 days from the start date or until the budget determined by the artist is exhausted, and are created through the ‘Campaigns’ tab of artists.spotify.com.

The platform began to propose certain changes in its design a few weeks ago, when it announced that it would focus its strategy on ‘reels’ instead of continuing with its usual commitment to static ‘feed’ publications.

However, at the end of July, the Meta-owned social network stopped testing the redesign of its ‘app’, which contemplated changes such as a full-screen ‘feed’ or the transition of all videos on the platform to the reels after receiving criticism from its users.

Now, the CEO of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, has confirmed in his personal profile and in an ‘Ask me anything’ session, where he answers questions from platform users, that he maintains his commitment to prioritizing content on the complete screen.

The vertical photos published on the social network will be those that are shown with an aspect ratio of 16:9, instead of the usual 4:5. This change implies that these images will adopt the same size as the Stories or ‘Reels’, which maintain characteristics similar to those of TikTok.

Mosseri has anticipated that the change will begin to reach users of the social network “in one or two weeks”, as reported by The Verge. Likewise, he recalled that, because the platform already supports videos in that format, he seeks with this change to offer “equal” treatment to photographs.

The CEO of Meta was in charge of announcing the changes through his official account on the Instagram social network. Zuckerberg shared a story where he “shows how the new vertical full-screen layout works.” During the presentation, he noted: “We want to make it easier to discover content and connect with friends.”

An Instagram spokesperson explained that the test will allow testing “some changes in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen“, which will incorporate shortcuts that will allow new publications and access to messages.

Full screen content

When accessing the content on the Instagram social network, it opens in “full screen”, separating it from the other videos in the feed and with margins in the color of the screen theme. The format is very similar to those found on reels.

According to Zuckerberg, photos continue to be very important for Instagram, and he stressed that the company is working hard on different formats that facilitate “improving the way they are displayed in a full screen feed.”

Although further details about the “new functionality” are unknown, it will be implemented for some users who will participate, in the next few days, in the screen tests and the company hopes to have a pleasant feedback on the experience.

Last May, the social network carried out its first full-screen feed test, but some users expressed their disagreement with the way the content was displayed.

The goal is for users to have greater control over what they want or not see” and thus improve their experience within the platform.

This new control feature makes it easy for users to inform the platform, by “just pressing the I don’t want to see this button, by clicking the 3 dots on any post”. The function also allows knowing the interest of the users for a specific author or topic.

Spokespersons for the social network explained that some publications invite the community to express their reactions to the content with the intention of increasing the reach on the platform, but sometimes the type of content “is misleading and frustrating.” The platform will not promote this type of content and encourages “all members of the community to focus on offering reliable, credible and authentic content.”

The new content control feature also allows users to report all posts that violate professional community policies. “The LinkedIn technical team may take action on accused profiles, such as being suspended or removed entirely.”

More news from LinkedIn

The new algorithm of the social network facilitates access to a greater amount of valuable content, interesting and can help users to develop and grow professionally. The platform bets on news and “opinions of public figures that are to the user’s liking, such as opinion leaders, experts in a sector, professors and content creators with relevant information applicable to daily work.”

Another cool feature that LinkedIn is adding, but it’s in testing for the US market, is the ability to decide if you want to remove political content from your feed. If the test is successful, the function will be available in all countries.

The social network owned by Meta made the announcement through its Twitter account, where it explained that the change of name from the news feed section to just Feed becomes effective from this week.

The current Facebook Feed is “a constantly updated list of stories that appears in the central part of the home page”, as the platform explains on its support page.

This section is where the user accesses most of the Facebook content, such as status updates, photos, videos, links, application activity and likes of people, pages and groups, ordered by the social network algorithm.

Content from external sources is also included, such as groups or news with which the user’s friends have interacted, even if they do not follow them. The members of the social network can hide the contents that they do not prefer to see.

The news is just one type of content that is shown to users in their Feed, and Facebook has chosen to remove this reference in the name of the section.

This new “New To You” tab is available, through Andoid Police, on the YouTube home page for mobile devices, web pages and smart TVs.

Generally, the feed on the YouTube home page is made up of the content of the artists, authors and inventors that you normally follow, but with this new tab you can find new content from creators you don’t know.

The goal of “New to you” is to provide visibility to lesser known creators. YouTube notes “that the feature goes beyond the typical content recommendations you receive in your feed and tries to expose you to new content and creators that you haven’t explored.”

The YouTube New to You tab comes to enhance the user experience and the reach of the creators, improving the user experience in getting more accurate recommendations for unknown channels for users. While for creators it is an opportunity to position themselves and reach new users that will allow them to increase their audience.

For all content creators for specific segments, it is very likely that from now on they will begin to appear in the new “New to You” tab of YouTube.

The notification was made by the company from its own account on the social network.

The ‘Remove Follower’ option is intended to “take distance” from some “followers who usually come to make negative comments on your feed.” The new feature is a smooth way to get rid of nasty users without blocking them, although it is best to combine this functionality with the ability to silence the person who is disturbing.

To remove the follower, people must enter their profile and click on followers, search for the person you want to remove and then click on the three dots to the right of their name. There, choose between the options to remove this follower and you will automatically remove him from your list of followers and from his list of followed.

The person will be able to see your messages if they decide to enter your profile directly, although “they will not be able to see them in their feed”. Being able to make the decision to follow you again, for which the option could become a “wake-up call” but it is not a definitive block.

There is also the option to mute to not see it again without this person knowing it. Now if you want to “get rid of a person forever, the best way is to block him and report him if necessary.”

The important thing is that social network users now have several options in this regard. With the ‘remove follower’ feature you can avoid “toxic” followers at least temporarily.

The social network Instagram clarified to clarify several aspects about the operation of its content organization algorithm, and explained the criteria that it follows to choose which publications show first in the feed, Explore or in the Reels, or why some publications have less visibility than others of the same account.

When Instagram was launched in 2010, the social network showed the posts of the accounts that the user followed in reverse chronological order, but with the growth of the platform, in 2016 users did not see 70 % of the posts, and they were they lost almost half the content of their closest friends.

For this reason, it currently uses a series of algorithms to personalize its experience, not just one as is usually believed, one of the several “misconceptions” that users of the social network have and that it has wanted to clarify to be more transparent, such as the director of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, said in a statement.

In the case of the feed, and the ephemeral content Stories, Instagram selects all the content published by accounts that the user follows, and uses what it calls “signals”, thousands of personalized indicators for each user.

Instagram signals include information about the publication, such as the number of likes it has had, when it was published, its duration in case of a video and the location from where it was sent.

The level of interaction with other users or recent account activity is also analyzed. With this information, Instagram makes a series of predictions, “educated guesses about the probability that the user will interact with a publication“, according to Mosseri.
