Digitalization of the banking sector in Mexico increases dismissals

BBVA initiated its digitalization process in the country and the result has been the dismissal of 1,000 workers, which represents a 3% adjustment in its workforce

BBVA Bancomer advances in the digitizing its processes. The promising outlook for the banking entity results in an increase in layoffs that currently represents 3% of its workforce.

According to reports from the commercial branches and customer service offices, a total of 1,000 workers have been notified of their dismissal due to the process of digitizing the various functions involved in banking.

Recently, Bancomer presented the first global mobile banking platform to unify the services it offers its customers in all the countries where it has commercial operations.

The digitization process aims to maintain the investment plan of the banking entity 2017-2021 of 1,500 million dollars, in addition to the commitment to its diversification in Latin America.

However, the negative effect on the labor market is undeniable, since the announcement of the dismissal of 1,000 workers has unleashed the fear of the workforce.
