The president of the United States, Joe Biden, announced the extension for one year of the emergency declaration due to China’s actions against Hong Kong and the “threat” that this poses to Washington.

“The situation regarding Hong Kong, including China’s actions to fundamentally undermine the region’s autonomy, continues to pose a threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States,” Biden said in a House statement. White.

For this reason, he has extended the national emergency declared on July 14, 2020 in accordance with the National Emergencies Law, which implies that it will remain in force for another year.

Thus, he has indicated that he will transfer the decision to the United States Congress and has recalled that Beijing’s actions pose a “great and unusual threat” to the North American country.
