The sculptor Abigaíl Varela inaugurated the series of talks organized by Bancamiga, in alliance with the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) Venezuela Chapter

Bancamiga inaugurated a cycle of talks to disseminate the arts and the work of Venezuelan creators, in its purpose of generating social actions that allow financial activity to become a factor that contributes to human development in the country.

In a strategic alliance with the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) Venezuela Chapter, “Bancamiga con el Arte” began on Wednesday, August 30, during a Tertulia with Abigaíl Varela, in the context of the exhibition of sculptures by this Venezuelan master which is exhibited in the Freites Gallery.

“The universal language of art has the power to sensitize us and generate positive changes in society. We believe that promoting and transmitting the most beautiful human expressions, from spaces for dialogue, is to magnify our heritage, a commitment of our institution to promote the encounter around our cultural values, to transform and enrich our experience”, assured Carmelo De Grazia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal.

The sculptor Abigaíl Varela shared and responded to the concerns of the public. He was accompanied by María Luz Cárdenas, curator, cultural manager and president of the AICA Venezuela Chapter, as well as Anny Bello, AICA member, visual arts curator and documentalist at Freites Gallery. Both specialists held exhibitions in which they detailed the plastic language of the sculptor, under the moderation of Carlos Maldonado Bourgoin.

Bancamiga Action for Culture

“Bancamiga con el Arte” is part of the lines of action of corporate social responsibility, as evidence of its commitment to the cultural development of Venezuelans through the promotion of artistic manifestations.

María Luz Cárdenas celebrated the social commitment of Bancamiga and its new initiative in the field of the arts with the support of AICA, to strengthen the academic purposes of this institution with more than 50 years of experience.

“It’s a win, win. The community wins, because it allows us to develop events. Thanks to this support, creativity also grows, the possibility of doing other activities, strengthens our work with new projects” in different areas, stated the curator.

Bancamiga’s Director of Social Responsibility, Milagro González, thanked the people and institutions that made the start of this cycle of talks possible, which will continue in the coming months with new meetings for reflection, dedicated to other Venezuelan creators

“I congratulate Bancamiga for this initiative for culture, which begins with me and with this exhibition, which is a kind of small retrospective of my work in large format. I hope this is very successful. The more private organizations that support art in general, the better it will be, it is vital for culture”, expressed Maestro Varela.

For the agenda

The gathering had as its frame of reference the exhibition “Abigaíl Varela. Medium and large format works”, made up of 11 sculptures made between 1980 and 2022, which account for the solid and current proposal of this Venezuelan artist. This exhibition can be visited until October at the Freites Gallery, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
