Amazon customers allowed to pay with bitcoin

Bitcoin customers can now use the Lightning Network to buy on e-commerce sites such as Amazon

Moon, the starting point of cryptographic payment processing, announced that Lightning browser extension can be used with any wallet that supports it. Moon is an extension that offers an alternative payment method when buying online. The client  can cancel with bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum or bitcoin cash directly on Amazon.com.

For his part, Moon CEO Ken Kruger said: “The extension will open a QR code and ‘the lightning invoice’, which you could also copy and paste if you can not use the QR code for any reason, and pay with your lightning favorite wallet.”

That is, Amazon never touches bitcoin. Kruger declined to specify which traditional financial institutions are helping to convert bitcoin into fiat on the backend, so that Amazon merchants actually receive fiat currency for their products.

Similarly, Kruger said that by 2020 the function enabled for Lightning should work in any e-commerce site, regardless of whether the platform directly accepts bitcoin or not.

The representative of the firm also said that there is no direct commercial integration. Moon manages the payment channels and simply offers an easy interface for sending payments.
