Google Chrome will block abusive notifications from websites

The tech giant Google is working on a feature that allows you to automatically block abusive notifications from web pages when browsing with Chrome

Google, the world’s most popular internet search engine, is working on a new feature that will allow users to automatically block abusive notifications from web pages when browsing with their Chrome browser. “A stricter approach to this element than the one that exists currently, which silences them”.

The new tool will bounce inappropriate notifications, with or without users’ prior authorization to receive them.

With this new feature introduced in Chrome 86, it focuses on the content of notifications and is activated on pages that have a history of sending messages with abusive content.

The feature is currently available as a “flag” on a test basis in the “Chromium repository, but it already offers a stricter approach to such items than the current Chrome feature.”

As you may remember, Google had incorporated the Chrome 80 silent user interface of the notification permission, which underwent changes with version 84 and with which the “browser company announced the automatic enrollment in the silent notification UI for websites with requests for abusive notifications.”

With version 86 the browser, in a pop-up window, shows the message that indicates the blocking of notifications “because the site “could track the user if it allows intrusive notifications”.
