Hackers attack hospital system in India and ask for rescue in BTC

The platform of the Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) New Bombay Vashi Hospital was attacked with an unknown virus

The New Bombay Hospital Vashi was attacked by an unknown cybernetic virus that affected its system and platforms. The hackers infiltrated the hospital’s system and encrypted the data. To revert the action, they requested a bailout at BTC.

Attacks with malicious viruses on public bodies have multiplied in recent years. The novelty is the rescues in cryptocurrencies, which represent one of the weaknesses of this ecosystem.

It was learned that hackers also used the data to buy bitcoin, although the amount reached has not been clearly established. The directors of the Indian hospital indicated that they will not pay for the ransom. The case is already in the hands of the police.

Attacks on platforms of public and private entities in India that are related to digital currencies, make the country’s financial authorities look with suspicion on bitcoin.

It is important to remember that the country is one of those that has imposed most restrictions on transactions in cryptocurrencies precisely because it considers that transactions do not offer security to those involved.
