Android 12 will include hibernation for apps

The new version of the operating system will bring more options in terms of space and battery optimization

Android 12 will expand the options for applications that are not used on the device, which will allow not only the withdrawal of permissions that can put the privacy of users at risk, but also the optimization of space and battery.

Google introduced with Android 11 the possibility of automatically revoking the permissions of those applications that the user had installed on the smartphone that they did not use. This occurs when you have not opened them for “several months”.

Hibernate mode frees up temporary files to optimize space, as was anticipated in January. This function can be activated within the new Unused Applications section, on the apps info page, in the settings menu, and will be linked to the option to revoke permissions.

Once activated, a corresponding section will appear within the application management, and it will show a list of apps that have not been used for months, as well as the actions linked to it: that the permissions are automatically removed “to protect data”, no notifications to “save battery” and delete temporary files.
