Google Maps will now provide its services at airports

The world's largest search engine tool indicated that it improved its augmented reality option, which will now guide users in these spaces

Google Maps announced the update of its augmented reality-based tool in order to guide users inside airports, trainspaces and shopping centers.

This function is already known as Live View, which was launched in 2020 by Google, and which places on the images of the street captured by the user’s phone camera to give directions through images.

Until now, these indications were only visible in open public spaces (streets, roads and parks), but as of this week they are already available in some closed spaces in the US and will reach cities around the world in the next few months.

For now, this feature will only be available to users in Chicago, LongIsland, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.

The two international cities that the company has already announced will receive the service in the near future are Tokyo and Zurich.

In an entry on its corporate blog, Google says the user will be able to find the closest elevator or stairs at an airport or train station, as well as the boarding gate, the road, the baggage claim point, the counter, the restrooms or an ATM.
