Google Docs improves support for Braille

Assistive technology users, such as the blind or partially sighted, will be able to achieve more efficient navigation

Google has improved support for Braille in Docs and document navigation prompts to provide a better and more reliable reading and browsing experience for assistive technology users.

The improvements introduced include a new shortcut to toggle Braille in Documents, Spreadsheets and Presentations. These are Ctrl + Alt + H for Windows and CMD + Option + H for Mac.

Likewise, it is also informed of where the cursor moves when the user uses shortcuts to navigate, and the reliability of navigation in documents and large lists has been improved, as stated in the G Suite statement.

Attendance also loudly reports table navigation or content selection, as well as images, misspellings, and grammatical errors.

The company began rolling out these enhancements on August 31, which will be available to all G Suite users with personal Google accounts. Users with Braille support enabled will find it by default.
