Volkswagen reactivated 100% its vehicle production

The company announced that now all its plants in the world are working, after the stop caused by the coronavirus

Volkswagen reactivated its operations at its Puebla plant in Mexico, which means that all its passenger car production plants around the world are already in operation, after the stoppage of activity decreed by all governments to slow the progress of the Covid-19.

This reopening of its 16 plants worldwide comes after suspending its activity in Europe for approximately six weeks and in South America for approximately 10 weeks, as well as in China.

Specifically, its German plant in Zwickau resumed production of the ID.3 electric model on April 23, followed by the brand’s largest factory in Wolfsburg on April 28.

The deployment of capacity in the plants is, on average, between 60% and 70% compared to the capacity levels prior to the Covid-19 crisis. “The main priority for the resumption of production was and continues to be the health of the workforce”, says the company.

In this sense, together with the works council, the company has developed a 100-point plan for maximum health protection, downloaded from the Internet more than 120,000 times by suppliers and other companies worldwide.
