Microsoft files a patent to carry out cryptocurrency mining

The method would be based on data collected from people exercising or while reading an ad

The American multinational technology company, Microsoft, submitted to the crypto market a patent that will allow users to mine cryptocurrencies while exercising or doing their daily activities.

The development of the system presented to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) called “Cryptocurrency system using body activity data” would completely eliminate the need for specialized mining machines and exercise a new way of working.

The patent application details: “Instead of the massive computation work required by some conventional cryptocurrency systems, the data generated based on the user’s body activity may be proof of work. Therefore, a user can solve the computationally difficult problem unconsciously.”

The document also specifies that the system works thanks to “a brain wave or body heat emitted by the user when the user performs the task provided by an information or service provider, such as viewing advertising or using certain Internet services, can be used in the mining process.”

Many technology companies with a presence in the United States have shown an interest in experimenting with the blockchain platform. Between January 2014 and October 2019, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted 227 blockchain-related patents. Some of the pioneering companies such as IBM, which lead the world ranking in blockchain patents, grew in the last year by 300%, thanks to this methodology.
