Mexico and Venezuela will resume direct flights

Both nations will have a Caracas-Cancun route, which will be covered by Conviasa state airline

The Mexican authorities reported that they will resume direct flights to Venezuela from next December, according to several media outlets.

The general director of the Toluca International Airport (AIT), Luis Bertrand Rubio, said that since November 15, users can return to Caracas, the Venezuelan capital, with a stopover in the city of Cancun and thanks to the Venezuelan airline Conviasa.

From that date, passengers will be able to travel to Caracas on Mondays or Fridays on direct flights from that airport.

The Mexican Government’s measure thus ends the suspension of its operations to and from Venezuela, which was announced in 2016. Rubio has also stressed that the route was established after an approach between the two countries through the Venezuelan ambassador in Mexico, Francisco Arias Cárdenas.

In 2016, the Aeroméxico airline had announced the suspension of its operations to and from Venezuela indefinitely, which ended almost 20 years of air connectivity between the two countries by national companies.
