Trial for image rights of Messi will be in January

This was determined by the First Instance Court 53 of Barcelona, Spain, who moved the date of the appointment before the courts of the Argentine star for January next year

The Court of First Instance 53 of Barcelona has suspended on Thursday a trial for the image rights of the footballer Leo Messi, which was scheduled for Monday in the City of Justice, and the magistrate has set a new date on January 7.

The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has informed that the player has advised of his inability to appear at the oral hearing, to which he was cited as a witness, and the other party in dispute has requested the suspension, which has been estimated.

The cause results from a crossing of demands between a company that manages the image rights of the player and another Dutch company that worked with the image of Messi for a particular product.

This is not be the first time that the Argentine star goes to the Spanish courts. In 2016, the Barcelona Court sentenced Messi to 21 months in jail together with his father for having defrauded 4.1 million euros to the Treasury through a network of interposed societies, although they were able to avoid jail by not being the penalty of more than two years.
