Venezuelan banks authorized to sell euros to the public

The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Venezuela approved the sale of foreign currency through authorized entities in Venezuela

The Central Bank of Venezuela and the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced new conditions for retail operations for authorized exchange operators.

Following the Exchange Agreement No. 1, of September 2018, banks can now market up to a maximum, per customer, of 1,000 euros or its equivalent in another currency.

Up to 4,000 euros per month and a maximum of 8,500 euros per year may be agreed upon, according to the official resolution of the BCV published in the Official Gazette 41,580 of February 6th.

“In the event that the transaction is aimed at acquiring foreign notes, it may not exceed the daily amount of 500 euros or its equivalent in another currency“, reads the official text.

The minimum established for the sale of foreign currency at retail is 50 euros or its equivalent in another currency, in the case of natural persons, and 500 euros in the case of legal persons.
