Facebook Messenger plans to introduce facial recognition to block the app

This new feature allows users to block the Messenger from the network every time they leave the app or after spending some time without using it

Facebook is working on introducing the facial recognition system so that users can block their Messenger messaging application on mobile devices. This new feature allows users to block Facebook Messenger every time they leave the app or after spending some time without using it.

To re-enter Messenger, the application will use the facial recognition registered on the phone itself, as confirmed by Facebook spokesman Alexandru Voica.

“For this type of privacy functions, we would use the facial recognition settings that are already on the device, not ours,” he stressed on Twitter.

This function is already used by other messaging applications such as WhatsApp. In early 2019, the app launched the Touch ID and Face ID functions for iPhone unlock.

In addition, months later it presented a similar fingerprint unlock function for all compatible Android mobile phones.
