Venezuelan Central Bank authorizes transactions in foreign currencies

According to the Official Gazette 41.575, the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) authorized transfers between accounts in foreign currency held in the national financial system

An official communiqué from the bank it was announced the measure that allows transactions in currencies between accounts of the same owner or third parties.

It is appropriate to clarify that in June 2017 the Central Bank of Venezuela had authorized this type of transactions but they were never carried out for lack of an understandable and clear legal regulation.

The initial measure was published in Official Gazette 41.174 of June 16th, 2017. Now the government releases an official notice to reiterate the decision to banks authorized to receive deposits in foreign currency.

This resolution is added to the anchoring of the official exchange rate of BsS 3,299.12 per dollar, which entered into force on January 29th, with the entry into operation of the private Interbanex platform for the purchase and sale of foreign currency.
