A group of scientists from the United States and China developed an automatic diagnostic system  through the use of artificial intelligence.

As outlined in the article, this procedure helps to immediately identify common childhood diseases, from influenza to meningitis, by analyzing the patient’s symptoms, medical history, laboratory results and other clinical data.

The researchers stressed that the system has a high degree of precision, so this would represent the beginning of a procedure that in the future will help diagnose patients with more complex and rare diseases.

The head of Ophthalmic Genetics at the University of California, Kang Zhang was commissioned to build this system, had already created a process of eye analysis to find problems such as bleeding, injuries and other signs of diabetic blindness.

Now, Zhang and his colleagues have created a system capable of diagnosing an even wider range of conditions by recognizing patterns in the text, not just medical images. “This could increase what doctors can do on their own”.
