Twitter modifies terms of service of the platform

The social network will give priority to posts of public interest, especially those of politicians who skip the rules

The social network Twitter confirmed through its official blog the modification of the conditions of service in order to provide greater tranquility and security to users. From the platform they indicated that they seek to avoid violations of the norms that politicians usually commit, giving priority to the contents of public interest.

Twitter said: “World leaders are not above the policies of use of the platform, and if their publications violate the contents but have public interest, their tweets will remain in the background, without users being able to retweet it or comment”.

The measure has a reference back in another corrective applied last June on the messages published by world leaders. At that time it was reported that they would remain in the background if they violated the regulations.

Tuesday’s decision focuses on a “harmonious conversation”, which respects Public Law and helps politicians to be accountable if necessary.

It is important to highlight that before a tweet from a politician, the followers or users of the platform will not be able to “like”, share the content or retweet said content. In this regard, from Twitter Safety they said: “You can still express your opinion with the retweet with comment”.
