YouTube will alert users before posting offensive comments
The goal is to promote respectful interactions between users of the video platform
The YouTube video platform is testing a new tool with which it will notify users with a pop-up window about offensive comments, with the aim of encouraging respectful interactions.
When detecting a possible improper message, the platform will show a reminder before publishing the comment. In this way, the warning message invites users to reflect on their writing or answer so that they review it before sending it, as explained by the company on its support page.
After receiving the notification, people can decide whether to post their comment as is or prefer to change it sooner.
Likewise, the company pointed out that even if the reminder is not received, it is possible that the comment will be deleted for not complying with the standards of the YouTube community, since the platform “will not capture all potentially offensive comments.”
