WhatsApp will allow history transfer without Google

The messaging platform is working on a new way to keep chat history without using the Drive platform

WhatsApp is developing a new way to transfer chat history to another Android device safely without using Google Drive hosting service.

The company has been working on conversation migration tools for years and already allows platform chats to be transferred between different operating systems, that is, from Android devices to iPhones, and vice versa.

Until now, WhatsApp allows you to transfer account information, profile photo, individual and group chats, chat history, media files, and settings. This indicates that this feature does not yet support call history and display name in the service.

At the beginning of January, specialized portals announced that Meta, owned by the platform, was working on a way to transfer a chat to a new Android device through the Google Drive hosting service.

This feature was part of the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.23.1.25 Now, this same portal has warned in version 2.23.2.6 of a new update to this feature under development indicating that this Google service is not necessary for chat migration.
