The Google search engine works again as in 1998

With a new extension for browsers, the famous search engine returns to the simple design it had in the late nineties

To return to the simple design of Google’s search engine in the late 1990s, developers have created a browser extension, Simple Search, which reduces distractions and simply displays search results in order of relevance.

The Google search engine has been developing its design over time, adding more information in searches without having to enter other websites, or prioritizing its own tools and products. Research published in July by The Markup has shown that 75% of searches on Google end up on the company itself.

Simple Search is an extension for browsers that returns to the original functioning of the Google search engine, born in 1998, as explained by its authors, the developers of The Markup.

The extension, which works in Chrome and Firefox browsers as for both Google and Microsoft’s Bing search engines, sorts search results more easily, only using their relevance in the algorithm.

Simple Search does not modify the search results, and is displayed through a box above Google and Bing, showing them in the traditional format with ten pages in blue, without highlighting any.
