Volkswagen will accelerate production of electric vehicles

The German company wants to produce a total of one million cars of this type by 2023

German automaker Volkswagen announced its intention to accelerate the production and sale of electric cars by setting its goal of producing one million such cars by the end of 2023.

The new objective, which replaces the original 2025 forecast, now establishes for that year the production of 1.5 million vehicles of the new ID family.

The production of ID.3 began at the Zwickau plant in eastern Germany in early November. From this fully electric model, the German brand aims to establish itself in a massive way in this sector of the market. ID.3 will also become the basis for new models.

Volkswagen intends to establish itself as a world leader in this market, thus surpassing competitors such as the American group Tesla.

According to a previous announcement, the main brand of the world’s largest automaker will invest 12.260 million dollars in the expansion of electromobility until 2024. For its part, the entire group will invest 35,000 million dollars in this segment in the same period.
