Venezuela regained the right to vote before UNESCO

This Monday, the Venezuelan ambassador to UNESCO, Rodulfo Pérez, announced that the country regained the right to vote before the organization

This Monday, Venezuela recovered the right to vote before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, as reported by the country’s ambassador to the organization, Rodulfo Pérez, through his account on the social network X.

The official wrote: “Victory!!! The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has recovered its right to vote in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization #Unesco.”

After a year of suspending Venezuela’s right to vote at UNESCO, the first vote was to agree to the request to stop aggression against the people of Palestine.

Pérez’s post on the social network states: “Our first vote once our right was restored! Justice for #Palestine stop the aggression! 96 votes in favor, 8 votes against, 33 abstentions.”

The reason why Venezuela had lost the right to vote was the non-payment it had with the organization, and which is attributed to the blockade imposed by the United States, which in turn “prevented the mobilization of the accounts that Venezuela has abroad.”

The good news for Venezuela was announced within the framework of the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO, Peace Diplomacy, Education as a Human Right, Science for Social Development and People’s Culture, in which Ambassador Rodulfo Pérez participated accompanied by the Minister of Popular Power for University Education, Sandra Oblitas Ruzza; Vice Ministers Francisco Durán of the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Vicente Carvajal of the Ministry of Popular Power for Education, and Domingo Medina and Hemmi Croes of the Ministry of Popular Power for University Education.
