USA wants China to offer real data regarding the coronavirus

The head of the health department, Alex Azar, asked the Asian authorities to maintain an open position with the outbreak of the virus

The US Secretary of Health, Alex Azar, urged China to maintain an “open” stance and be completely “transparent” in relation to the new coronavirus, which has so far left 106 dead and more than 4,600 affected.

“We are urging China to make use of greater cooperation and transparency,” said Azar, and also mentioned that US citizens should think twice about traveling to the region.

In this regard, the secretary said that the possibility of introducing travel restrictions should be on the table since the “virus could constitute a very serious risk to public health.”

“We are continually preparing for the possibility of the situation getting worse,” said Azar during a press conference. Americans should not fear for their own safety. Part of the danger we are facing is that we do not know all the necessary about this virus … But that does not prevent us from preparing and responding to it”, he said.

For his part, the director of the Center for Disease Control of the United States, Robert Redfield, has confirmed that “the level of alert in the United States is low.” “Right now the virus is not spreading here”, he said.
