Ukraine arrests suspects for fake crypto exchange

The police have arrested four individuals under the charge of transactions with false cryptocurrencies

Ukraine police continue the arrests for illegal handling of cryptocurrencies. This Wednesday the authorities carried out four arrests on accusations of running fake cryptocurrency transactions.

These are young men between 20 and 26 years old who had ventured into financial deals in the country after the launch of six deceptive digital exchanges, through which they attracted naive users and stole their money.

Clients fell into the trap of expert programmers through promotions for the exchange of cryptocurrencies with false positive ratings, a tactic that cyber criminals are currently using.

According to the authorities, the suspects created their own CMS system that allowed them to manage the contents of the digital exchanges. The case was complicated this Thursday when the United States received the request to freeze the assets of citizen Dominic Lacroix, owner of PlexCorps, through the Securities and Exchange Commission. Lacroix and its partners are accused of violating the securities law on ICOs in August 2017.

The Ukrainian authorities remain alert on the cases of illegal handling in transactions with cryptocurrencies, as well as the emergence of deceptive offers and frauds that affect the citizenship.
