S&P Dow Jones aims to start launching cryptocurrency indexes through subsidiary S&P Global Inc next year.
To carry out this process, the data on digital assets provided by the New York-based company Lukka, which has more than 550 of the most traded cryptocurrencies of the moment, will be used.
Similarly, S&P clients will be able to work with the index provider to create custom indexes and other benchmarking tools on cryptocurrencies, S&P and Lukka said in a joint statement.
“As digital assets such as cryptocurrencies are becoming a rapidly emerging asset class, the time is ripe for independent, reliable and easy-to-use benchmarking”, said Peter Roffman, S&P Global Head of Innovation and Strategy. Dow Jones Indexes.
