Russia will carry out legal tests on blockchain and cryptocurrencies

The Ministry of Economic Development of the country is promoting assessments against technologies that are not being regulated at this time

At least four regions of Russia were selected to participate in the process of legal pilot tests, which will involve blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.

These evaluations are being promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, which has expressed interest in carrying out tests on emerging technologies that are not being regulated.

The chosen regions include the city of Moscow, as well as Kaliningrad, Kaluga Oblasts, and Perm Krai, and it has been stipulated that the experiment be carried out in the form of “regulatory sandboxes”.

Deputy Minister Savva Shipov says that the main objective is to promote these technologies but through flexible regulations compared to federal laws.

On the other hand, the presidential council member on the development of civil society and human rights Kirill Kabanov said that “regulatory sandboxes can work if they are used as polygons to adapt the legal system to the new technological structure.
