China adopts the use of the blockchain in court cases

The Beijing Internet Court has worked on at least 40 cases that have been validated through the use of this and other technologies

China’s Global Times news agency said that Chinese authorities are committed to the use of blockchain technology for the resolution of court cases.

The president of the Beijing Internet Court, Zhang Wen, said during the 2019 Forum on Protection of Intellectual Property in China that new technologies are being used as tools for decision making in the legal field.

“Of the 41 cases concluded so far, the parties decided to leave the court instead of litigating in 40 cases with convincing evidence of blockchain“.

This encourages the development of social credibility in the country, “Wen said. The Beijing Internet Court, considered the second of its kind according to the report, has processed about 14,904 cases so far.

Wen also spoke about Artificial Intelligence, stating that from the court they use it as an “assistant to make decisions”, assuring also that in the future they hope to see “an AI judge sitting on the podium”.
