Three sources close to Sony would have confirmed that PlayStation titles will soon have advertising content
Sony is working on a new advertising format for PlayStation, with which it plans to introduce ads in video games on this console, as a way to monetize free titles or offer rewards to players.
Three people close to the tech company confirmed that the company is testing with industry partners to help advertisers introduce ads through a software developer program.
In principle, Sony plans to encourage developers to continue creating free-to-play games and offer them a new form of monetization.
According to these sources close to the manufacturer, the ads currently only appear in the menu, a similar option to game publishers promoting their own titles on the console’s PlayStatation Store.
In addition, PlayStation includes advertisements and promotional content while streaming content from the console, with services such as Hulu.
