PDVSA and Chevron activate new generation well

According to the Minister of Petroleum and president of PDVSA, Pedro Rafael Tellechea, the objective of this joint work between the state oil company and Chevron is to increase the country's production

Through a statement, the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA announced the activation of the new generation well Petroindependencia, S.A., a subsidiary of the Corporación Venezolana del Petróleo, S.A. (CVP), jointly with the American Chevron.

The measure is part of the 2024 Drilling Campaign and, according to the Minister of Petroleum and president of PDVSA, Pedro Rafael Tellechea, is intended to increase production in Venezuela.

PDVSA issued a statement last February indicating that “the EDV-43 drill began work in the Carabobo 2 Block of the Hugo Chávez Orinoco Oil Belt (FPOHCH).”

The plan contemplates the activation of 17 wells in 2024, “so CMI14 is important for increasing the crude production of this mixed company.”

The business plan began with the CMI14 well, the first of 17, which “represents an important milestone for increasing the production of this joint venture, under the premise of operational excellence.”

The joint work of PDVSA Petroindependencia and Chevron ratifies the commitment to boost the main Venezuelan industry, “providing the barrels of crude oil necessary for the well-being of the Venezuelan people, complying with the recovery plan for the oil industry” of President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
